An early morning police chase through Wood County ends with an arrest thanks to thorough police work and a Rockport couple.
It began just after 11:30 p.m. on Interstate 77. A high-speed chase, fleeing from police, ditching the stolen car on route 21 in Rockport, then hiding in the dark woods.
Eighteen-year-old Mandrel Kendricks of Columbus was caught, not by canines or cops, but by some diligent neighbors calling 9-1-1 around 1 a.m.
“I asked him where he was from he said Columbus, Ohio. I said I'm calling law enforcement, he wanted me to call an ambulance,” says Arley Nailor.
Sergeant Guy Brown with the West Virginia State Police says Kenricks will be charged with a slew of felonies from fleeing from authorities to taking stolen property across state lines.
A second suspect is still at large
