Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- Hunters in West Virginia are setting their sights on deer.

The state's buck gun season opens Monday in all counties except Logan, Mingo, McDowell and Wyoming.

The Division of Natural Resources expects 280,000 licensed hunters will hit the woods this season, helping to fuel an annual economic boost of about $233 million.

Each hunter can bag two bucks over the next two weeks.

The season ends Dec. 5.

You did a report about hunters wanting to stock up on Deer Meat durring this deer season. But when I would go around to certain job sites, I would find the Remains of Dead Deer in the dumpsters. And I have also found them along many back roads. If it was a nice Buck the horns wound to gone, along with the Tenderlorn, Hindcorners. If you are not going to use all of the deer meat, why even go hunting at all?

To Anonymous, not all deer in WV are small, we have good size deer in Wood County all though not as big as some of the deer across the river. I would not want to hunt in Ohio, the fact being we have a longer season and we can use high powered rifles. You say you are glad you are a buckeye ,West Virginias can hunt in Ohio and vice versa. Getting " deer worth setting in your tree stand all day long " I never set in a tree stand and I bet I average about 4 to 5 deer a year in the freezer. The reason we can kill 2 bucks is because there are so many deer over here. I love to hunt on my southern Wood county farm.

Yea. Let them come into the city and tear up our trash and land. Also let them eat all the farmers crops. Good thinking! I say kill 'em all!

Well, if ypu know the law, then you know that unless you are involved in Agricultural activities then you must wear 400 square inches of blaze orange to be out in the woods. I bet that keeps you from being mistaken...

Guess I won't be doing any hiking the next couple of weeks, for fear some ya-hoo will mistake me for the ever fearsome deer.
