Parkersburg city employees will not be getting college incentives anytime soon.
Although council set aside money during the budgeting process, the college incentive plan ordinance for all full-time employees died in a tie 3-to-3 vote.
Council member Demo Dukas participated by phone tonight, but failed to vote on this and several other measures.
In other business, council passed a hotel occupancy tax increase from 3 to 6 percent.
And Blue-Cross Blue-Shield shared a presentation with council on the plans for their new downtown building.
Construction is expect to begin later this year and be completed by 2009.
The finished headquarters will house up to 760 employees.
