Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- Nancy Atkins, who oversaw West Virginia's Medicaid program for six years, is returning to her old post.
State Health Secretary Patsy Hardy said Monday she's hired Atkins to be commissioner for the bureau for medical services.
The bureau administers Medicaid, which in West Virginia has a combined state and federal budget of more than $3 billion.
Atkins replaces Marsha Morris, who left the post to become deputy general counsel for the Department of Health and Human Resources.
Atkins, who left the bureau to work in the private sector, starts work immediately.
