Munich (AP) -- Prosecutors in Germany accuse retired Ohio autoworker John Demjanjuk of playing an active role in the Nazis' machinery of destruction.
In a Munich court today, prosecutors read the indictment against the 89-year-old and said he was a willing follower of Hitler's racist ideology.
Demjanjuk was deported from the Cleveland area in May to stand trial in Germany. He rejects the charges of being an accessory to the murder of nearly 28,000 Jews at a Nazi death camp, saying he has been mistaken for someone else.
Ukrainian-born Demjanjuk suffers from several medical problems and for a second day was wheeled in to the Munich state court on a gurney.
