Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- Opponents of health care legislation in congress are expressing their displeasure by burning their AARP membership cards.
Fred Joseph, a retired businessman and past republican candidate for the House of Delegates, says protesters will be staging demonstrations across West Virginia this weekend.
They're upset that the organization, which advocates for older Americans, has endorsed federal legislation that would bring sweeping changes to health care.
Joseph says there will be an outdoor fireplace at the rally he's attending in Charleston.
But he says most of the demonstrators have likely burned their cards already.
Angela Vance of the state aarp says the group hasn't received many calls from members complaining about the endorsement.
