The Christmas spirit is everywhere, and Saturday it made it's way through Vienna and Parkersburg for the annual Christmas parades.

Hundreds lined the streets of Vienna Saturday morning for the first parade.

Many local organizations, businesses and school groups made their way down Grand Central Avenue, wishing folks a Merry Christmas and of course tossing candy to all the children.

A little more than three hours later, many of the same bands and floats took place in the annual downtown Parkersburg Christmas parade.

Participants included Mayor Bob Newell, bands from Parkersburg and Parkersburg South High Schools and of course, Santa Claus.

WTAP was present at both parades as well, passing out candy and taking donations for the annual Toys for Tots drive.

I think that the Parkersburg and Vienna parades should be combined. It would make for a much better display and the kids would not already be worn out by the time the Parkersburg parade started.

I love coming to the parkersburg christmas parade. I brought my two year old son in to see it. The only problem I have is that why is parkersburg south marching band always the first band and phs is always the one bringing down santa claus. I was in pshs marching band and it used to be the schools would take turns every year. What makes phs better than south to do this every year?

The Parkersburg parade was very nice this yr. Seen that the children all enjoyed it. The one problem tha I seen, was that Santa Wasn't on a Firetruck like in yr past. We were unable to see him on the trailer, he was sitting down and my grandkids missed him.
