Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- Agriculture Commissioner Gus R. Douglass is asking rural West Virginians to participate in the 2010 Census to ensure an accurate account of the state's population.
Douglass said Monday that the U.S. Census Bureau is making a special effort to accurately count rural residents for the 2010 Census.
Douglass says an accurate count is critical because census data is to locate new stores, hospitals, highways, schools and other facilities.
Congressional districts are apportioned based on census data.
