Pratt, W.Va. (AP) -- The town of Pratt could face a $133,000 fine by the state for problems with its sewer system.
Mayor Gary Fields says the state Department of Environmental Protection proposed the fine in a draft consent order that it sent to the Kanawha County town in February.
Fields says the agency demanded correction of problems at the town's sewer plant.
An estimated 30,000 gallons of untreated sewage was released in December after a snowstorm knocked out the plant's electricity.
Backups and overflows often occur during power outages or periods of heavy rainfall.
Mike Zeto with the dep says the agency can't discuss ongoing disciplinary proceedings.
