Updated Wednesday 8:22 p.m.

A man accused of killing a baby he fathered more than a year and a half ago is now in custody in Washington County.

Early Wednesday morning Major Crimes Task Force agents picked up Landon Evans in Lake County, Florida and brought him back here to face a murder charge.

In Florida nearly two months ago, Evans was charged with one count of murder.

Police said Evans had a sexual relationship with an underage female that resulted in the birth of a baby girl at a Marietta hotel in June of 2008.

Detectives said the baby girl was killed, burned and her remains disposed of somewhere in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks said Evans is a flight risk so he is being held in isolation and is also on a suicide watch.

Evans could face the death penalty but Washington County Prosecutor Jim Schneider said he could not comment as to whether or not Evans will.

Evans is scheduled to have a video arraignment in Marietta Municipal Court Thursday.

The girl is facing charges in juvenile court which means at this point her charges are not being released.

The Florida man wanted in connection with a Marietta murder that happened more than a year and a half ago has been returned to Washington County.

Around 5:30pm Wednesday evening, the Washington County Sheriff's Department booked Landon Evans into the jail.

Deputies picked Evans up Wednesday morning, after he was extradited.

Authorities believe Evans is responsible for a murder that happened in June, 2008.

An investigation led the arrest of Evans in Florida.

To G I was 16 when I had my first child and I raised him. She was old enough to make her own choices. She has to be just as sick as him to have done this. How do you know it was his idea? Remember when the 12 year old killed his grandma and aunt not too long ago? He was treated like he was an adult so WHY should she be any different??? You aren't giving her enough credit. She was old enough to know exactly what the hell she was doing!!!!!!!!!!! They made her together and they killed her together!!!! they are both very sick people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOTH DESERVE TO SUFFER FOR A LONG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

G?Even though she was"only" 15 SHE KNEW IT WAS THE WRONG THING TO DO! And B? I agree with you on the equal parties. Mark I agree with you on what you said. To me they were BOTH GUILTY and deserve the same punishment as the other one gets. To me murder is murder NO MATTER WHAT THE AGE OF THE PERSON COMMITTING THE CRIME. She was 15 and at the age of 15 you think one would know that murder is murder.

I hope her remains are located. He was an adult while this lady was only 15 i think. I think she was manipulated in this situation by the much older young man. She didn't run off to hide in FL, he did.

They are both equal parties in this sick little crime and deserve much worse than anything they will receive. I don't see how because she is a minor she is not being plastered all over the place and things being said about her as well.

I agree that death by the needle would be too much of an easy way out for him. He absolutely deserves what he did to that baby!!

Why in the world can't Washington County do anything right!!! They all knew about this before it happened and yet they did nothing. A baby was killed, and yet it has taken 2 years to even start doing anything about it. So now until His trial date he is going to sit in our jail, while our tax dollars paid for his trip back to Ohio, food, and alll of the extra protection, so when it all comes out, he will sit in a cell for the rest of his life. He needs to have a very slow, slow death and make him pay for what he has done!!!!!!!!
