If you own an All Terrain Vehicle, you may want to beware.
Parkersburg city council met tonight to discuss an ordinance that could ban the use of unlicensed all terrain vehicles. This is the first step in the process. The ordinance will be read again in two weeks to decide if it is passed.
City officials became concerned after several south-side residents complained about the noise from the ATV’s in their neighborhood.
The ordinance adds a new section to the traffic code. However, exceptions will be made for government use or participation in parades.
The ordinance states that unlicensed ATV’s will be banned on public streets, sidewalks, alleys and parking lots. If you're caught breaking the law, the offense is considered a misdemeanor with fines up to $100.
