SMBBallFan, I'd like to make something very clear - I could not have been more supportive of Howard Meeks. Perhaps you and I set near each other at a board meeting as advocates for a new coaching staff, perhaps you were one of many parents I personally contacted urging your attendance to support Howard as the Coach of the Lady Devils. What I can't support or respect are the social politics that take place behind the bench! Quite possibly, you may be part of the problem.

SMBBallFan - I agree Howie has dedicated many years to the program. Kudos to him on his recent award. Congratulations to the girls for making it happen! The fact is, the girls warming his bench have dedicated many years as well, beginning with Devilettes. IT IS DISTASTEFUL to watch seniors and juniors (who are quite capable of playing at State level) set the bench with a 30 point lead while the starters are still in the game. What part of that don't you get? Maybe you'll get it when your daughter is benched her junior and senior year to make way for the latest, greatest freshmen. He is so loaded with talent and will continue to be due to the program he built. I just think it would have been a nice gesture to honor the seniors and give them some court time. It was a blatant disrespect to our girls and our program. This was his practice the entire season not just at state level.

SMBBallFan you must have a daughter who is a star player on that team. I don't think LadyDevilsFan downed Howie she was citing a plea to him to give everyone some equal playing time. She said it was "distasteful" and she didn't sling mud at him. This was a big deal to all the girls and the coaches. Give it a break! Everyone is proud of how the girls did and the coaches.

I sure am glad LadyDevilsFan doesn't support Summers County because that coach NEVER subbed his players even when they were beating teams by margins as absurd as 55-1. Furthermore, Howie has dedicated many years to Pleasants County girls basketball and has the players interest at heart in all of his decisions. Instead of slinging mud at a coach that just led a team during a state runner-up season, this "fan" maybe should try supporting the team and the coaches. Congrats coaches Howie and Larry and all of the girls on the team. You made this St. Marys very proud!!! Thanks for restoring respect to our program.
