Martha Stewart has been sentenced to five months in prison and five months of home confinement for lying about a stock sale. She was also fined $30,000. She could have received up to 16 months behind bars.
Before the sentence was handed down Friday, Stewart asked a federal judge in New York to "remember all the good I have done." Stewart called Friday "a shameful" day for her, her family and her company.
Stock in her company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, rallied nearly 20 percent after the sentencing.
