Chillicothe, Ohio (AP) -- Family and friends say they still miss an Ohio police officer gunned down five years ago by a man who later escaped from jail and hid out for months.
It was on April 21, 2005, that Chillicothe officer Larry Cox was shot to death while running on foot after John Parsons, who had robbed a gas station.
Cox's widow, Teresa, says she still gets depressed thinking about that day.
The officer's father says this is a tough time of year for the family.
Parsons broke out of the Ross County jail in July 2006 while awaiting trial in the killing and managed to elude authorities for almost three months until he was found sleeping in a shack.
After his recapture, Parsons pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
