Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- If you weren't one of the 60,000 West Virginians to weigh-in on a new welcome motto, take heart. You'll get a second chance in a few weeks.

Manchin Administration Spokeswoman Lara Ramsburg said 56,000 residents participated in the online poll and another 4,000 used the phone.

Gov. Joe Manchin decided to conduct a poll to replace his "open for business" slogan.

Ramsburg says the next step is to select the top three or so choices, and then put them out for a vote.

She says the vote for the best slogan should be completed before Thanksgiving.

Manchin has said he will present the winning slogan to the legislature so it can be made into law.
