Breast Cancer Awareness Month is hitting close to home.

Saturday, our local community comes together to support a Little Hocking woman diagnosed with breast cancer twice within a 13-year period.

Julie Nutter was honored at a benefit fundraiser at the Belpre Bingo Hall on Washington Boulevard.

The benefit was organized by her family and friends and featured a silent auction, bingo, food, and a bouncy house for the kids.

All items at the benefit were donated by various area businesses and local residents.

Nutter says she's incredibly grateful for all that's being done to help.

"It's just amazing, I'm kind of overwhelmed with the support and what the community has done, so many businesses have donated and individuals have gotten together with others," says Nutter.

"She's a super strong person, she's got a great personality, everyone loves her and we just want to put this thing together to help her out," added Nutter's Cousin, Jordan Ahart.

All proceeds from the benefit will help Nutter and her family with medical expenses.

And they made out wonderfully as the event raised around $3,000 to go towards their cause.
