Firefighters battled more than just the heat Wednesday.
They saved an apartment complex from being completely destroyed by fire.
It all happened around 4 Wednesday afternoon on 29th street in Parkersburg.
Firefighters found smoke coming from the windows when they arrived at the apartment complex.
Fire Captain Tim Flinn says the firemen prevented the fire from moving up to the attic as they contained the flames to the kitchen.
The smoke detectors inside the apartment were working at the time of the fire.
No one was home and no reported injuries.
Investigators ruled the fire accidental.
