Airport Traffic

Planning on flying soon?

You might want to consider taking a flight out of an airport close to home.

The Mid Ohio Valley Airport here in Wood County saw a five percent increase in boarding passengers this year.

So far, over 500 passengers flew out of the airport.

This is a 10 percent increase from last January.

The staff at the Mid Ohio Valley Airport are hoping to continue this increase during the winter.

"We're a very easy drive up here, free parking is a definite advantage, we have smaller airplanes so the longest line you're going to be in is only going to have 18 people in front of you if it's a full plane. So it's just very convenient and very easy," says Mid Ohio Valley Airport Manager, Terry Moore.

Unlike the Mid Ohio Valley Airport, boarding at the North Central West Virginia and the Morgantown Municipal were down about 11 percent.

Low cost carrier, Colgan Air, was replaced by Silver Airways at airports in Beckley, Bridgeport and Morgantown.
