Wood County Middle School students experience their first Arts Encounter.
A day of learning all aspects of theater at the Actors Guild and watercolor painting at the Parkersburg Art Center.
Artsbridge Executive Director Jane Irvine says the kids see a performance from the musical "Shrek" at the Actors Guild.
And over at the Art Center they view the watercolors currently on display and learn the basics of the medium from watercolor artist Virginia Killian.
"Kim Matthews, who works for Wood County Board of Ed and Linda McCormack came up with this idea," Irvine says. "It's very exciting and the students are having such a wonderful day and I hope this changes some lives."
According to Irvine, they typically they haven't serviced middle school students much at Artsbridge, so they decided to start a pilot project.
They partnered with the Actors Guild and the Art Center and they're all thrilled they're making this happen.
It's a wonderful day of the arts.
