What could've ended in a semi-automatic shootout with deputies ... ended peacefully in Athens County.

The sheriffs office was called to a home in Amesville ...

That's where family members say a 44 year old man, whose name is not being released at this time, had shot his dog and was in his home with an AK47 semi-automatic rifle.

The mans brother and sister were in the home with him.

Sheriff's deputies and the special response team secured the area around the home.

The sister was allowed to leave the home, she told authorities the man was at a window with his finger on the trigger.

Authorities were able to eventually get him out peacefully.

He's currently under mental evaluation, and Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly says chagres will be filed once that evaluation is complete.
