Athens County deputies expect to do a follow up investigation and instead find an active meth lab.
Sheriff Pat Kelly says detectives were checking on unrelated issues on State Rt. 682, The Plains, when they got out of their car to see smoke coming from a shed.
Detectives say the man living there, Clayton Ator, came around the corner and walked toward the smoke. Detectives say they then saw the meth lab behind the shed.
After getting a search warrant, the Narcotics Enforcement Team handled the lab.
Consequently 37-year-old Ator was arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine in the vicinity of a juvenile and taken to the South Easter Ohio Regional Jail.
