A man is charged with trying to kidnap a 32-year-old woman in Washington County.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office says it all happened around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning in New Matamoras.
Deputies arrest 61-year-old Dwin McGraw.
They say the Reedsville man offered a ride home to two women, Jennifer Jorgensen and one of her friends, in Parkersburg. Investigators say McGraw dropped off the friend but then refused to drop Jorgensen off at her house, ignoring her repeated pleas to let her out of the car. They say Jorgensen even tried to get out while the car was moving and McGraw hit her in the mouth.
Eventually, deputies say McGraw stopped at a gas station in New Matamoras where Jorgensen was about to get the help of a store clerk to call for help.
Jorgensen told deputies McGraw did have a gun with him.
Deputies say McGraw admitted to giving the women a ride home but denied all other allegations.
McGraw is charged with kidnapping and disrupting public service and misdemeanor charges of assault, aggravated menacing and carrying a concealed weapon.
