It was a chance to help veterans in any way she could.
And Thursday they celebrated her long-awaited book.
Veterans, family and friends made their way to Attorney Jan Dils' Parkersburg office to preview the book, "Getting the Veteran's Benefits You Deserve."
Dils says the book was the next step for her after six years of doing veteran events.
"So that all the questions I'm asked every single day just to get those in written form so they don't have to come see me if they don't want to," Dils says. "If they want to try to do veterans benefits on their own, they're able to do that -- or just to have a basic overview about the process."
Dils says it's overwhelming and can be upsetting to veterans not to know what to expect, but the book helps them sort through all the information.
It covers the veterans benefits program, some of the steps and what to expect, including some forms.
