A man wanted for six years for failing to register as a sex offender is arrested in Parkersburg.
Parkersburg Police say William Virgil Abernathy was arrested Tuesday morning at his home at 5240 Emerson Avenue.
They say he has been wanted since July 5, 2007 for failing to register as a sex offender.
He is wanted out of Cleburne County, Arkansas but has lived in Wood County since 2004.
Abernathy is being held without bond on fugitive from justice charges.
He will have a hearing in Wood County Circuit Court in the coming days.
The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office says they want Abernathy extradited back to Arkansas.
