UPDATE: Authorities Investigating Newport Boy's Death

The Washington County Sheriff's Office investigates the death of a 6-year-old Newport boy.

The 911 call came in at about 9:30 Thursday morning.

Sheriff Larry Mincks says Tyler Ward was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital and was in distress during the ride there.

Sheriff Mincks says the child had been sick for a couple of days.

The cause of death is undetermined and under investigation.

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks now says the death of a 6-year-old Newport boy is undetermined and it is under investigation.

Sheriff Mincks initially said it was suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.

He says the boy, Tyler Ward, died at his home on State Route 7.
