Fire safety for students. Not just for the young kids but for young adults too.
Today, the State Fire Marshals office conducted training for college students at Kent State University, about campus fire safety.
Here locally, Marietta College students are now coming back to school and fire officials say, students need to familiarize themselves with the building.
Marietta Fire Chief C.W. Durham says, always know two ways out, in case of a fire or emergency. Also, know where the fire extinguishers are but don't tamper with them.
"Not to disable or impair any visual or audio alarms for the system, it's not only against the law but it creates a safety hazard for everybody in the facility," said Chief Durham.
Chief Durham says the college has been great to work with. He asks that the students remember to take every fire alarm that goes off seriously.
