This cyber Monday and throughout the whole holiday season... you may be wondering just how convenient and safe it really is to shop online.

Saving time and money has turned into a game for many across the nation. so the growing popularity of Cyber Monday is no surprise.
Cyber Monday allows the great deals of Black Friday without waiting in line and many sites have a much larger stock of items leaving a better chance of getting that perfect gift.

"It allows shoppers who can't get to the big box stores to still get the same deals online, many can't get out for whatever reason can still get the deals."

And while those commonly shopped stores typically have the majority of deals even those looking to shop small businesses locally or across the nation have a chance to find more deals.

"Marietta and Parkersburg businesses have cyber Monday deals on their websites by buying through the locally owned businesses you have a better chance at saving on shipping and getting your items a lot faster."

The Owner of Wayne's Computer World, Wayne Hunter, says shopping online can be tricky and urges everyone to take the proper precautions and to be aware of what site you're on and shop on sites you're familiar with.

"Be careful when you go to these websites, there's a lot of phishing scams out there and a lot of websites you'll type in, and if you miss one letter, like amazon if you type an e int stead of an O it will come up and look just like amazon but it won't be Amazon. Make sure you know the model number, the make, the serial number, whatever it is that you need to know to make sure you get what you really want to get."

Hunter says to protect against people getting your credit card number use a designated online purchase credit card or the best and only true way to stay safe online is to buy a disposable credit card.

"Put enough money on it for the amount you're going to order make sure you put enough on it to cover the shipping too, and if you do that you should be safe because if someone does get a hold of that card, that's all the money they're going to get."

Hunter says just to be cautious of anything suspicious and use common sense. If you do use a credit card... you should always frequently check the activity for anything out of the ordinary.
