WEST UNION, W.Va. (AP) - The Doddridge County school system hopes to capitalize on a natural gas drilling boom.
Schools Superintendent Rick Coffman says the school board recently voted to lease 1.7 acres to Antero Resources. The property is on the site of the Board of Education offices and the former West Union grade school.
Coffman says the lease will provide a small amount of money to the school system. If the operation produces natural gas, the school system will receive a royalty.
He says the school system won't make a lot of money. But every bit helps.
