One vehicle was going the wrong way when it collided with another vehicle early this morning, according to a witness.

It happened at about 2 a.m near the intersection of 19th and Covert Streets in Parkersburg.

A man who lives in that area who would only identify himself as John says he witnessed the accident from inside his home and he called 911.

He says an SUV was traveling in the wrong lane on 19th Street, when a truck came along in that same lane, causing a head on collision.

He says the driver of the truck fled on foot following the accident.

Parkersburg Police Sgt. J.D. Hart says the driver of the SUV is a juvenile and he was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

He says the juvenile drove the SUV left of center, striking the truck.

Hart says it's not clear at this point whether the truck was parked or had a driver in it..
