They say there was no affair and describe the shooter as a former family friend. This story broke Sunday night when deputies responded to a man shot in the face at a Newport boat ramp.

The call came in around 10:30 Sunday night.
A man had been shot twice, once in the shoulder and once in the face.

"And next thing you know, my husband drops to the ground, and he's like, I've been shot, I've been shot. Get me to the car. Reaches his hands around his back and blood is all over his hand, I pick him up, I carry him to the car and as I'm carrying him to put him in the front passenger seat, he got shot in the face, right here," said Amanda Carter, victim's wife.

Richard Carter is now in the hospital recovering.
His family is speaking out today because they are upset authorities are calling it a love triangle.

"But I want to make it clear that my daughter, never dated Michael Good. That she was not ever Michael Good's girlfriend. And that my son-in-law did not deserve to be shot and the night he was shot, I heard love triangle, if I did not hear it once, I heard it one hundred times," said Robin Steele, Amanda's mother and victim's mother in law.

Good is a customer at the place Amanda is an Exotic Dancer and Amanda says she is suppose to keep her customers happy.
Good has given her money and gifts for years totaling $20,000 and if she asks for anything he will get it for her. Good even paid for her and her husband's wedding.
The family says Good would drive Amanda to see her husband while he was in jail and local authorities don't have the right information.

"And they are trying to make my daughter Amanda look bad, if she was such a bad person and did not want her husband why would she be here by his side every day and every night," said Steele.

Amanda says Good sent her a text earlier that day saying, if he can't have her, no one can have her.

"He said marry me today, I'll give you anything you want, if you leave your husband today I will buy you a car," said Carter.

The family says Michael Good is mentally unstable and needs help. Amanda plans on suing Good because assuming he goes to jail, she says that is still not enough.

Good has been charged with attempted murder and is in custody.
