UPDATE 10/13/2014 11:15 AM

Just over a year ago a young woman's life was tragically cut short.

An event her family started to carry on her memory helps children in need.

She was loved by those who knew her.

Chyennea Uppole lost her life in a car crash in July 2013.

The 20-year-old's mom started an event after the accident to honor her daughter.

Loved ones say Chyennea loved children.

This passion inspired a now annual benefit.

Last year they made six kids Christmas wishes come true.

This year they're trying to beat that record.

Money raised goes to Washington County Children Services' holiday wish program.

Community businesses donate the raffle items and everyone who comes to the dinner buys a ticket - yet another way to support this cause.
