Fire at Parkersburg Business (UPDATE)

UPDATE: Feb. 27 4:15 PM

Parkersburg Fire Inspector, Tim Flinn, says the Kom Pak convenience store suffered $35,000 in damages.

Flinn also says the smoke detectors inside the business were working at the time of the fire.

With investigators still finding the cause of the fire, Flinn isn't ruling out suspicious foul play at this time.

A fire breaks out overnight at a Parkersburg business.

Investigators work to determine the cause.

The Parkersburg Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at around 2 this morning.

It happened at the Kom Pak convenience store on 23rd Street.

Parkersburg Fire Captain Jim Tracewell says they had it contained within 10 minutes.

It appears to have started in the middle of the store, but investigators are still trying to figure out how it started.

Captain Tracewell describes the damage as moderate.

He says many of the store's contents were damaged, but no one was injured.

There is an apartment above the business, but tenants got out safely before firefighters arrived.

Captain Tracewell adds there was smoke damage to the apartment.
