FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING.
The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a flash flood watch for the following counties until 11pm Wednesday:
IN SOUTHEAST OHIO:
ATHENS, MORGAN, MEIGS, PERRY AND WASHINGTON.
IN WEST VIRGINIA:
BARBOUR, BRAXTON, CALHOUN, CLAY, DODDRIDGE, FAYETTE, GILMER, HARRISON, JACKSON, KANAWHA, LEWIS, MASON, NICHOLAS, PLEASANTS, POCAHONTAS, PUTNAM, RANDOLPH, RITCHIE, ROANE, TAYLOR, TYLER, UPSHUR, WEBSTER, WIRT AND WOOD.
Some areas in the watch area saw significant rainfall this morning and additional rainfall is expected this afternoon as a cold front moves through the area. This additional rain falling on saturated ground could result in flash flooding.
Remember a flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should water levels rise and/or a warning is issued.
