A former police officer will spend nearly two decades behind bars.

29-year-old Brandon Allen - a former Detroit officer - was sentenced in Athens County court Friday.

Athens County Common Pleas Judge, George McCarthy, sentenced Allen to 17 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Allen previously pleaded guilty to 12 counts including trafficking and possession.

Investigators say he's part of a drug ring out of Glouster, Ohio.

Allen was arrested earlier this year in an Atlanta airport.

Now a former police officer faces a dozen criminal charges.

He's charged with a dozen counts, including trafficking and possession.

You might recall, Allen was arrested last month in an Atlanta airport.

Investigators say he's part of a drug ring out of Glouster, Ohio.

Bail's set at $12 million.

Trial is set to begin October 7th.

A former Detroit police officer is indicted in Athens County after investigators say he was involved in a local drug ring.

Brandon Allen will be extradited from Georgia.

Prosecutors say Allen orchestrated a $3 million drug ring, selling prescription pain killers.

Allen was arrested Friday in Atlanta.

Investigators believe he was trying to leave the country.

An Athens County grand jury indicts him on twelve counts.

The prosecutor says the investigation followed the arrest of eight people in May running from Athens to Columbus and Detroit.

The prosecutor says instigators tracked Allen to the Atlanta airport using social media.
