Teaching for the love of her students.

A St. Mary's Catholic Elementary School teacher receives the March Jan Dils Golden Apple Award.

Mrs. Paula Sewell is honored with applause and hugs.

No one was surprised.

She has taught for over 30 years, spending hours after school each day putting in extra time, from tutoring to serving on committees and updating the bulletin board.

But the students and co-workers say the best part is she does it all with a smile because it is her love for the job that is contagious.

"The kids, it is all about them," she says. "So many things have changed over the years and they're just wonderful, they make everyday a reason to come back. That is why I'm here."

She says the students are like her family.

Mrs. Sewell teaches fourth grade and was nominated by a parent and former co-worker.
