While major flooding is not expected in the area, high water could be a problem in low-lying areas.
The Ohio River is currently forecast to crest well below flood stage at Parkersburg and Marietta.
But the Ohio north of us is expected to top out just below flood stage.
And other rivers, including the Muskingum, could crest close to flood stage.
"Anyone who is driving through our area or near the creeks should pay close attention to the water, and never drive through it. Always turn around," says Jeff Lauer, Washington County EMA Director.
The reason for the rising waters is the warmer temperatures and melting snow from this week.
EMA directors from both Parkersburg and Marietta remind residents to keep up with the latest river forecasts.
