High Water Flow Causes Point Park To Close

The water flow in the Ohio River caused one local park to close.

Point Park in downtown Parkersburg was flooded.

The river flow caused the sidewalks and stairways at the park to flood.

Mayor Bob Newell, says there were no major damages.

Flooding at Point Park is common.

The park was designed to handle the overflow.

"Well of course you know, when the water rises it's because of the moisture we get from Pittsburgh and north of us. It's not necessarily due to the rain here locally so you know there's a graph, there's a computer program that we follow. We know way ahead of time what level the water is going to get," says Newell.

We'll let you know when the park re-opens to the public.
