Thursday night, the Memorial Health System in Marietta teamed up with Lifeline of Ohio as they held its fourth annual hope for the holidays.
People came out to honor late loved ones who donated their organs or tissue to others by making Christmas decorations.
The event is open to organ and tissue donor families and recipients from southeastern Ohio and West Virginia.
"At first I was scared to talk to her just knowing she got the heart but I want to meet her and we've been talking back and forth email and now I can't wait to meet her knowing she got the heart and saved her life," says Donna Harper whose son donated his heart to someone in need.
Hospital officials say that every 10 minutes, another person is added to the national waiting list for an organ donation.
