"Thank you so much for what you've done for this country, for what you've done for all the men and women here," says Veterans Museum of the Mid-Ohio Valley Projects and Events Coordinator, Angela Shoemaker.

"I would like to say thank you to every individual that ever served in the military," added John Kelly of the U.S. Air Force.

Veterans Day weekend celebrations wrapped up Sunday in Wood County with people honoring our true heroes.

The Veterans Museum of the Mid-Ohio Valley held its second annual cookout as a fun way to say thank you.

"We want to have an event that we could honor the Veterans, it could be free to their friends and family, we have a lot of kid activities, the blowups, all of that. We wanted to make it fun for the entire family and do something just to say thank you," replied Shoemaker.

Veterans representing all five branches of the military were grateful to tell their story of fighting for our freedom.

"There was a lot of good times. The brotherhood that was involved with all the people who fought there together, certainly was the most elevating and illuminating," Terry Connolly of the U.S. Army said.

"I brought the wounded back by train, anyway we can get them into the hospital. I was in a general hospital and my job was outside to go pick them up," says Denver Crew who served in World War II with the U.S. Army.

Those veterans who attended were thankful as well.

Thankful to their community.. for remembering their service.

"You need to say thank you back to the community by setting an example in doing everything that you can to help other veterans and also the community," says David Huffman of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Officials at the Veterans Museum of the Mid-Ohio Valley say they look forward to continuing this great tradition for many years to come.
