TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A federal judge's decision will continue to keep a northwest Ohio couple banned from attending a county fair this and the following two summers.
The judge has denied a request for a temporary restraining order against the Wood County Fair Board filed by a Pemberville couple that was banned from attending the fair for three years following an incident in which their son and other children allegedly spit on a lamb in a 2012 fair contest.
The Blade in Toledo reports Linette and Dan Kemner sued the board in March alleging civil rights violations. The suit is pending in federal court.
U.S. District Court Judge James Carr in his written opinion this week said issuing the temporary order could undermine the board's "efforts to provide an orderly fair."
