World Book Night is an event sponsored by authors, publishers, and printers.
They put together the funds to give people free copies of books. And this event is different because it's not just a free giveaway of unwanted literature.
Boxes contain all the latest novels like the Hunger Games...and the Poisonwood Bible.
It's the books that grab headlines and audiences across the world.
"I think it's really important mainly because they ask people to pick books that resonated with them, that got them excited. So when they went out to hand them out they could say I want you to read this book. I read it. I think it's a really great book and I want to share it with you. i think that's the really exciting part about this. There are all kinds of free book giveaways but these are great, modern novels that people are excited about reading," says Barking Dog Books and Arts store clerk Marianne Monaghan.
On Monday, April 23rd volunteers will distribute books at different locations.
Each person has one box of about 25 books to give away to spread the joy of reading to people within the community.
