Turnout from the Wood County primary was low.
County Clerk Mark Rhodes says 18 percent of registered votes turned out to cast ballots.
The clerk's office was hoping for a higher turnout, based on better than expected turnout from early voting.
But that turned out to be one-sixth of the total primary ballots cast.
The last similar primary was in 2010.
"Four years ago, it was a 24% turnout, so we're about 3-4,000 voters less this year than it was in the previous year. ( We now have 2,000 more registered voters.) It was about 52,000 compared to 54,00 voters this year," Rhodes says.
Those figures are in spite of several contested races, including final elections for the board of education and mayor of Williamstown.
