UPDATE 9/29/2014 5:45 PM
An embezzlement case raises questions about a local internet service and if it affects how it operates.
Several thousand dollars and a series of computers become part of the investigation.
Last December Washington County deputies arrested Brooks Espy, Jr. for theft while he worked at Alliance Industries.
Espy is out on bond.
After a nine month investigation, authorities say they found out that Espy was working with Tim Henson with Henson Communications.
Investigators say together they were both stealing large amounts of money from Alliance.
Also connected to this is Smart Networks - a business run by Tim Henson's son Chad Henson and Eric Mostrom.
Washington County Sgt. Scott Parks says Tim Henson told authorities he was also an owner, but the company now denies that - even though Henson's office is in the Smart Networks office, plus his name is on the door.
Sgt. Parks says Smart Networks is now under investigation.
Speaking with Smart Networks, they did confirm all of their computers have been taken by the sheriff's office, except for the equipment running the network.
They told us on the phone Tim Henson was not involved with Smart Networks, but Chad Henson did not return our call to then speak with him further.
Washington County Commissioner Ron Feathers says the only involvement they have with Smart Networks is the lease for the use of their equipment on the MARCS towers.
And Smart Networks does not use any Washington County taxpayers' money to run the business.
They are required to pay a $96,000 bill annually and they have done that this year.
A 54-year-old man is accused of misusing company funds, leading to his arrest.
After an investigation conducted by the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Brooks Espy, Jr. was arrested on a fifth degree felony charge of theft.
Police say Espy used his IT job at Alliance Industries to steal up to $4,000.
They say using a company credit card, he purchased personal items like golf clubs and Disney items, dating back to 2010.
Espy is currently in the Washington County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
