Downtown Marietta is the heart of the River Trail.
The historic gazebo overlooks the water, but it's still being renovated.
That has some wondering what exactly is going on.
The Marietta City engineering department says the structure was failing.
The project is taking place in two phases, first temporarily stabilizing it, then re-construction.
Neighbors say many people use the gazebo - especially in the summer - but now all they see is construction but no workers.
"It's a happy place, so I really enjoy living here very much. And I hate to see all these nice things that aren't happening anymore. I see lots of people pointing up, and looking and discussing and wondering, why, why, why," says Joan Hushion, a Marietta resident.
City engineers say certain steps with city council, permits and contractors have been taking a while.
The construction is scheduled to start next week and should be done before the Sternwheel Festival.
From weddings to prom pictures and little girls twirling around inside, Hushion says she just wants view back and the joy it brings to those in town.
