UPDATE 5/23/2014

The Marietta High School crew team sails into the semi-finals at the national championships.

The MHS lightweight 8 will row in Saturday's semi-final race.

Race time is 9:40 am Saturday. You can stream the race live on the US Rowing website .

The boy's team did not advance.


They're one of the top crew teams in the country.

Now the Marietta High School crew team heads north to make a run for a prestigious national title.

The key is not to catch a crab.

Coaches say they're done the prep work all year to make it this far and everyone is very excited.

Midwest championships were held in Zanesville May 9 and 10.

Girls and Boys came in second there.

Headed to nationals, boys junior four and the girls light weight varsity 8.

Nationals are five minutes outside Princeton, New Jersey Friday and Saturday, with Friday heats and semi-finals on Saturday.

Last time guys made it was 2010.

Last time girls made it was 2011.

They are starting the trip Thursday morning.

They will be updating and giving results this weekend through their Twitter account @tiger_navy.
