UPDATE 12/4/2013 4:30 PM

A new finance director for the City of Parkersburg is sworn in.

Tuesday Mayor Bob Newell swore in Ashley Flowers as the new finance director.

Flowers started her duties on Tuesday.

She moved from Clearwater, Florida, where she worked for an organization called UPARC that helps the developmentally disabled.

Flowers graduated from WVU with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.

A new face in the finance department for the City of Parkersburg.

Mayor Bob Newell says effective Friday, Ms. Darcie Dyke will be the acting finance director.

Dyke is replacing Angie Smith, who is stepping down from the position for personal reasons.

Smith had served as financing director since taking over the position in January 2012 for Doug Life.

Smith will take another position within the city.

Dyke will serve in the position until a replacement can be found and a search will begin immediately.
