There's a new officer in town, keeping the street safe in Marietta.
Officer Michael Harlow is a new patrolman with the Marietta Police Department. Harlow took his civil service test in August of 2011.
He then went through a two month process of tests and was hired late last month. He graduated from Washington State Community College and then worked at the county jail and court house security for a year.
Harlow says he's very happy about being part of the Marietta Police Department. He loves being able to be out on the road, helping people and plans on retiring here.
"It feels pretty good, I've grown up in the police department,
my step dad is SGT. Richie. So since six years old, this is all
I've ever known here, it is almost like coming home," said Officer Harlow.
The Civil Service Commission met last night to talk about the hiring of
three more officers out of a pool of 21 applicants.
They'll start later this summer.
