J.L. Dean Junior was named to the position of Williamstown fire chief Tuesday evening.
Dean is a 26-year veteran of the volunteer force, and was nominated by a vote of his men.
He fills the vacancy left by the late Joe Ruf.
City council also made a proclamation honoring the late fire chief and presented it to his family.
