A Newport woman was flown to a Columbus hospital with serious injuries following an accident Sunday in Zanesville.

According to the Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Routes 22 and 345 in Muskingum County.

The patrol says the driver of a truck pulling a camper lost control when he tried stopping at a stop sign.

The truck and camper jackknifed, traveling into the path of two motorcycles.

55-year-old Mary Tustin of Newport drove her motorcycle through the side of the camper.

She was flown from the scene in critical condition.

Patsy Goddard, also of Newport, was able to lay her motorcycle down before hitting the camper.

She was treated at a hospital and released.

Two 13-year-old children riding in the camper were also treated and released.

The road was closed for over four hours as a result of the crash.
