They may not get the attention Congress and the White House do but, at least in Ohio, there are offices up for election in November.
With absentee voting under way, voters in Washington County have to decide on candidates for city councils and treasurer in Marietta and Belpre and for township trustees throughout the county.
And there are at least three seats up for grabs in the county's six school districts.
In Belpre, Fred Meredith, Bobbi Simmons, Robert Wallace and Leonard Wiggans are candidates for seats on that city's board of education.
Don Atkins, Karen Burton, John Lehman and Wendy Myers are running for the Marietta City School Board
The Fort Frye district has a long-time board member, David White and another incumbent, Johnna Zalmanek, among its four candidates. the others are Lloyd Booth and Stephanie Lang.
In Frontier schools, Kurt Bohen, Daryl Bowersock, Todd Collins and Gale DePuy III are candidates for that district's three open board seats.
In Wolf Creek schools, three candidates are in the running for two seats on the board. They include current board members Joe Campbell and Roger Doak and challenger Cheryl McCutcheon.
And in Warren Local, Bob Allen, Sidney Brackenridge, Bob Crum and Willie Holbert are running for open board seats.
